Ana Vieira Leite

Soprano

Portuguese soprano Ana Vieira Leite graduated from the Haute École de Musique de Genève (Switzerland) in 2020, where she obtained her Master's degree in concert and was awarded the Prix Ville de Genève for her outstanding work. Also in 2020, she was awarded 1st Prize at the Concours International de Chant Baroque de Froville. She is a laureate of Les Arts Florissants' Jardin des Voix 2021/22 academy, and will be performing the title role in Handel's Partenope during the European tour conducted by William Christie. Ana Vieira Leite is particularly active in the field of early music, and has sung roles such as Spes in Hildegard von Bingen's Ordo Virtutum, Une Bohémienne in André Campra's Les fêtes vénitiennes, La Musica in Monteverdi's Orfeo and Lidie in Rameau's Le temple de la gloire. She has collaborated as a soloist with Cappella Mediterranea, under the direction of Leonardo García Alarcón, and with Holland Baroque. She is also a founding member of the Portuguese ensemble O Bando de Surunyo, which specialises in performing music from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

In September 2019, she made her debut at the Grand Théâtre de Genève singing the soprano solo in Philip Glass' Einstein on the Beach and Clorinda in an adaptation for children of Rossini's La Cenerentola. On the concert podium she performed Gustav Mahler's 4th Symphony with Joana Carneiro and Gábor Takács-Nagy, Mahler's Rückert Lieder with Thomas Hauschild.

Prior to joining the Haute École de Musique de Genève, Ana Vieira Leite holds a bachelor's degree in singing, a postgraduate diploma in lyric studies and a master's degree in artistic interpretation from ESMAE (Porto). In 2018, she won 1st Prize in the Concurso Internacional Cidade de Almada and, in 2017, 1st Prize in the Premio Helena Sá e Costa. In 2021, she won 1st Prize in the Concurso de Canto da Fundação Rotária Portuguesa and 2nd Prize in the Premio Jovens Músicos.
