Inspired by Vivaldi's pasticcio opera

Inspired by the fate of the Ottoman sultan Bayezid I, Bajazet is one of Vivaldi's most bewitching 'pasticcio operas'. Although composed of music that was rather heterogeneous in its inspiration and origin, the Venetian composed an original work, rich in brilliant and expressive arias.

The aim of the Concert de l'Hostel Dieu is to present the most beautiful extracts from Bajazet alongside secular and sacred music from Anatolia, performed by the Telli Turnalar Quartet. Made up of four female artists, who are in turn singers and instrumentalists, the bewitching music of this young Turkish ensemble will respond to the baroque arias of the 'red priest'.
