This edition entitled Bach – The Art of Movement will focus on Leipzig’s famous composer J. S. Bach, the influences of international composers on his work as well as his influence on composers through the continent.

Bach Academy

Ce projet réunit 21 instrumentistes allemands, français, ukrainiens et 3 chanteurs italiens. L'Académie Bach est un projet de coopération européenne offrant une expérience orchestrale à de futurs musiciens professionnels spécialisés dans l'interprétation du répertoire baroque. Une résidence a lieu du 14 au 20 novembre 2022 à Leipzig, dirigé par Franck-Emmanuel Comte.

Bach, le jour d'après

Johann Sebastian Bach had many sons. Four of them are of particular importance in the history of Western music: Wilhem Friedemann, Carl Philip Emmanuel, Johann Christoph Frederic, Johann Christian.

Developing and transforming their father's legacy, they represent important milestones in the transition from Baroque to Classical style. They are part of the Aufklärung period, and in some ways foreshadow the Sturm und Drang style and pre-romanticism.

The programme of the Bach Academy presents excerpts from the compositions of these four great composers, each of whom in their own way is the bearer of a new aesthetic and of remarkable philosophical aspirations. We begin the concert with the most modern scores, those of Carl Philip Emmanuel. Then we will go back in time over four decades to end with the music of the Leipzig Cantor, as a kind of return to the sources; the sources of our common, timeless and universal musical heritage.
