Fabien Hyon was ‘Révélation Classique de l’ADAMI’ in 2015, as well as HSBC Laureate of Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2017. In 2019, he is nominated artist in residence at the Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne.

Graduating from the CRR de Clermont-Ferrand (Conservatoire), he began studying in the class of Malcolm Walker in 2011 at the CNSMDP (Paris Conservatoire) where he obtained his Master’s in 2016. He then took advanced classes at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the tutelage of José Van Dam.

He has sung with Fabio Bonizzoni, Leonardo García Alarcón, Christophe Rousset, Kaspar Zehnder, Arie Van Beek, Wolfgang Doerner, David Reiland, Stéphane Denève and Marco Guidarini; in productions by Emmanuelle Cordoliani, Alexandra Lacroix, Jeanne Debost, Heather Fairbairn, Jean Bellorini, Alain Garichot, Edouard Signolet and Florent Siaud; at the Beaune, Petites Nuits de Sceaux, Sinfonia en Périgord, Musica, Voyage d'Hiver and Musique & Mémoire festivals; and on the stages of the Wigmore Hall, Snape Maltings, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Théâtre du Châtelet, Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg, Théâtre Gérard Philippe, Athénée-Théâtre Louis-Jouvet, Philharmonie de Paris, Opéra de Lille, Opéra Royal de Versailles, Opéra de Rennes, Opéra de Massy, Scène Nationale de Châlons-en-Champagne, Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, Philharmonie de Wroclaw in Poland.

Tamino in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Mr Haack in Betsy Jolas' Iliade l'amour, the title role in Bernstein's Candide, Télémaque in Jules Matton's L'Odyssée and Louis XIV in Hahn's La Carmélite, He was also Diarte in Cavalli's Erismena, Evangelist in Bach/Keiser's Markus Passion, Uriel in Haydn's Die Schöpfung, Obadjah in Mendelssohn's Elias and tenor soloist in Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde (Brussels Philharmonic, S. Denève).

Attracted by the contemporary repertoire, in 2013 he created melodies by Noël Lee and Patrick Burgan with pianist Yoan Héreau. He went on to create the characters of Rilke in Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber's Mitsou, histoire d'un chat, Harry in Daniel D'Adamo's Kamchatka, Télémaque in Jules Matton's L'Odyssée, Thésée in Michèle Reverdy's Ombres du Minotaure and, most recently, Nestor in Guillaume Connesson's Les Bains Macabres. Critics hail his "radiant energy and ease on stage and vocally" (ResMusica) as well as "[his] fleshy, intense, solar voice and [his] overwhelming stage presence" (La Croix).

In 2019, he will take part in the recording of Lully's Isis with Christophe Rousset - Les Talens Lyrique. He plays Mercure, both on record and on stage. The recording has been widely acclaimed by the critics, and the production has just been nominated in the 'rediscovered work' category of the 2020 International Opera Awards.

He explores the world of mélodie and lied alongside pianists Juliette Sabbah, Michalis Boliakis and Nicolas Royez, with whom he has given several recitals. He recently performed Schubert's Die Schöne Müllerin with Juliette Sabbah at the Opéra de Baugé festival.

Last season saw a number of projects successively cancelled due to the health crisis: revivals of Erismena (Cavalli) at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon (dir. L.G. Alarcon), Jules Matton's Odyssée at the Opéra de Rennes and in Quimper, a recital with Michalis Boliakis at the Queen Elisabeth Chapel based on Britten's Holy Sonnets of John Donne, and a re-creation of Mondonville's Daphnis & Alcimadure (Les Passions, J-M. Andrieu) at the Festival Radio France de Montpellier.

In 2021-2022, he played Dickson in Boieldieu's La Dame Blanche with La Co(opéra)tive, touring theatres in Compiègne, Quimper, Rennes, Tourcoing, Dunkerque and Besançon. He was Normanno (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Opéra de Rennes and Angers-Nantes Opéra (cancelled for Covid).

Concert appearances include Anfinomo (Il Ritorno d'Ulisse) with Les Epopées (S. Fuget) in Beaune, Leçons de Ténèbres (Brossard) with Il Caravaggio at the Montpellier Radio-France Festival and Il Paradiso perduto with Le Concert de l'Hostel Dieu in Lyon. He is also tenor solo in Job (G.J. Werner) with Les Talens Lyriques in Budapest, tenor solo in Psyché (Lully) with Les Talens in Vienna and on recording, as well as tenor solo for a tour with the Orchestre de Picardie around a Bach Cantata.
