1642, r\u00e9volution de Cromwell. Le roi Charles II est en exil en France, \u00e0 la cour de Louis XIV, son cousin germain. Il y d\u00e9couvre la musique de Versailles, qui le passionne \u00e0 tel point qu’elle fera partie de ses bagages lors de son retour en Angleterre en 1660. C’est dans ce contexte que de nombreux artistes fran\u00e7ais l’accompagnent et viennent s’installer \u00e0 Londres ; ils vont inspirer les compositeurs anglais, fascin\u00e9s par Jean-Baptiste Lully. D\u00e9bute alors une p\u00e9riode de renouveau artistique remarquable pour la musique anglaise, naturellement encline \u00e0 s’enrichir de sonorit\u00e9s multiples. Il en r\u00e9sulte des cr\u00e9ations passionnantes et dynamiques, influenc\u00e9es par le m\u00e9tissage des styles. Elles refl\u00e8tent l’esprit d’ouverture de cette cour cosmopolite qui accueille les meilleurs artistes en provenance du continent.<\/p>\r\n
