This group that Franck-Emmanuel Comte wished to call “Les Goûts Réunis”, referring to the title of a book of pieces composed by F. Couperin in 1714. It refers to a strong idea in Baroque France: the French and Italian styles mix and complete one other. It has been used to say during the 17th and 18th century: “What the Italians do with a song, the French do with a dance”
