Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu is composed by an oratorio choir of a remarkable level, a Vocal work-shop of young professional singers and an orchestra playing ancient instruments. Dedicated most of its time to the interpretation of the sacred baroque repertoire it also performs lyric and chamber music programs.
Every year since 1992, Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu under the direction of its conductor, Franck-Emmanuel Comte, presents its work in Lyon, in the thematic music season of the ensemble, which brings together an audience of around 7 000 amateurs. Many performances are also held in the Rhône-Alpes area as well as in national and international festivals. In 2009, the Ensemble performed in prestigious places such as the Festival of La Chaise-Dieu, the Ambronay Festival, the Seviqc Bresiçe festival in Slovenia, also in the Cluny, Fontenay and Lessay Abbeys …
Eight recordings, highly praised by the press, testify to the quality and originality of the Concert de l’Hostel Dieu. The Carolan’s Dream album was part of the best sellers of the distribution company Harmonia Mundi for the year 2008. In September 2009, the Ensemble signed its new recording, Belle Virginie, with the prestigious Ambronay Editions Label.
To complete its activities, le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu also proposes a training program aimed at young professional singers (as part of the Atelier Vocal), educational projects aimed at primary and secondary school students, events in hospitals within the framework of Culture à l’Hopital (a French government plan), and various projects to bring a wider audience to Baroque music.
Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu receives funds from the city of Lyon, the Rhône-Alpes regional council, the National Departement of Culture and Communication (DRAC Rhône-Alpes), CulturesFrance (Foreign Ministry), l’ADAMI, la SPEDIDAM. Le Concert de l’Hostel Dieu is a member of the Fédération des Ensembles Vocaux et Instrumentaux Spécialisés (FEVIS) and of the Profedim Trade union.
